Renee restarted her Fitness Journey in 2012. Shortly after she became pregnant with her second child. She was able to safely continue to workout while pregnant. Renee has run in several half marathons, completed a half ironman, and several fitness competitions.

Chris Monteath joined Fortitude Fitness in January 2019 after attending a few free classes with friends. He enjoyed the accountability, challenge, and camaraderie that the group classes provided, which was something that was missing from his previous workout routine of lifting on his own. After attending classes on a regular basis, Chris realized that encouraging his fellow athletes came naturally. He began training to be a coach and furthered his knowledge about fitness outside of the gym; in June 2019, Chris received his L1 certification and joined the family as a coach. Outside of the gym, Chris works at Trinity New Life Church and enjoys traveling and spending time with friends.
I was born and raised in Florida. I attended Florida State University and got a bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. Yes, I am a huge Florida State fan and I try to attend as many FSU football games as possible. I have been at Fortitude Fitness for a little over 5 years and I have been a Level One instructor for just over two years. My now husband is the one who got me back into my fitness journey. When I am not at the gym, I am working at the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and 2 amazing dogs, Onyx and Cotee.

Samantha joined the Fortitude Fitness family in January 2018 in an effort to make the most out of her first six-week Paleo challenge put on by the gym. Throughout those six weeks, she quickly realized how much she missed the gym atmosphere after leaving her home gym in Michigan in 2014. The Just Sweat classes offered her the perfect spot to build her endurance and strength at the same time. Another bonus was that she quickly made new friends and could bring her little one along with her! A little over a year later, Sam completed her first CrossFit Open and took on the role of one of our Just Sweat coaches. During the day, Sam works part-time for Trinity New Life Church and tries to keep up with her fun, busy toddler at home.
Trey spent his whole life competing in team sports and missed that competitive aspect of his life. Add in his complete boredom of the traditional gym setting, and he was looking for a change. He found that change in 2013 when he walked into the nearby box and gave “Cindy” a try. Twenty minutes later his lungs burned, his legs wobbled, his head was pounding, and he was hooked. Since then he has competed in numerous local and interbox competitions, always looking for the newest skill to tackle. Already incorporating aspects of functional fitness into his coaching for football and track during his day job. In 2016 he earned his L1 certification and began coaching classes at our gym. He tries to incorporate skills he’s picked up from his years of athletics and his science background to help motivate others and allow them to enjoy the gym as much as he does.
Clayton jointed Fortitude Fitness in March of 2017, falling hard for the barbell beauty of high intensity, constantly varied functional movements. When not pastoring or coaching, he enjoys binging TV, reading, and writing pithy website bios.
My name is Rob Sanchez. I have been Cross-Training for about 12 years now and I love being part of the Fortitude Family. When my fitness journey began I was a little apprehensive at first just like everyone else. Heavyweights, movements I’ve never done before, working out in a large group of people that I don’t know made me a little nervous. But one of the things that I love about the gym is how nice and friendly everyone is especially at Fortitude Fitness.
A lot of us train to compete, I train to stay in the best shape that I can be for my firefighting career and for my son so I could be able to be with him for many years to come. I love coaching, the knowledge that I can pass on to our members on how to live a better lifestyle it’s priceless. I enjoy walking into the gym every single day.

Phil started his fitness journey after meeting us at a local triathlon. Phil had recently gotten back in shape and was looking for a training program to compliment his offseason regimen. Since that time, Phil has completed a 1/2 Ironman, a marathon, and he has competed in multiple local fitness competitions. This made Phil a natural choice to head up our Firebreather Program. It quickly became successful and expanded to a second night each week. Phil handles all the programming for the program and can usually be seen at local competitions giving our athletes last-minute advice.
USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach
Mike “Deg” is a 25 year veteran weightlifting coach and leads the State Champion Girls Weightlifting program at River Ridge High School. Deg’s knowledge of the two Olympic lifts (the snatch and Clean and Jerk) far surpass anything standard gym coaching offers and we love that. Fortitude Fitness is about being broad, general, and inclusive whereas to become great at lifting requires a specialist.
Jared started his fitness journey in 2013 when the typical gym and running regimen became routine. Jared was instantly hooked with the constantly varied workouts, mental and physical challenges. Jared has since competed in numerous local fitness competitions and some online as well. In 2017 he earned his L1 and began coaching.
